eMuse Anniversary

It has been a year since we embarked on this artful literary journey with you. We have grown leaps and bounds, and we are constantly delighted by the positive feedback we’ve received from our readers. Without our readers and contributors we might not have lasted an entire year. Thank you for seeing us through. We look forward to growing with you in the years ahead.

To celebrate our anniversary we devised an exciting summer camp contest. Much to our happy surprise, a couple of our contributors even scrambled to meet the deadline. We had submissions come in from all over the states, and we will be sharing some of those with you. I would like to extend our sincere congratulations to everyone who stepped up to meet the challenges we presented. Thank you for participating, and sharing your work with us for this contest. All of the submissions were phenomenal. We’ve posted some of our favorites in the Fiction section.

Congratulations to our two winners:

Our first prize winner is P.A. Bees from Sagamore Hills, Ohio. P.A. Bees won a $100 Amazon.com Gift Card

Second prize, which is a $50 Amazon gift card, goes to Mindy Hockernberry of Templeton, Pennsylvania.

In this issue we are honored to share the poetry of Hayden Derk, Harlean Carpenter and Gary Beck. We have fiction pieces from Doug Mathewson and James Stark. Artist Liz Markus took some time out of her busy schedule to chat with us, and we also have a few pieces from abstract artist Peter Schwartz. Llewellyn McEllis discusses horror in literature as we prepare for Halloween.  As always, we have some fantastic book reviews, so if you’re looking for a recommendation, check out our reviews section.

If you enjoyed this issue, please take a moment to leave comments for our contributors in our guest book. You can also keep up to date with what’s going on at eMuse by subscribing to our low volume Yahoo announcement loop.

And now on to some special thanks:

First and foremost, thank you to all of our contributors and contestants. You are our muse.

Next, eMuse would not be possible without the hard work and continued dedication of Steve and Brit. Even under the pressure of our deadline and last minute editorial catastrophes, these two manage to pull it all together and wow us every time.

Last, but not least, we’d like to thank our editor-in-chief and visionary, Jacquéline Roth for keeping us on track whenever we start to stray.
