Dark Card

Dark Card is a collection of outstanding poetry that comes from deep in the heart. Foust tells the story of being a mother of a young man diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. Most of us are familiar with the autistic disorder from the movie Rain Man, but Foust's stripping away of the surface gives the reader a raw, painful and yet hopeful view of her life.

The title poem sets the stage for what follows. They are fierce, loving and powerful works of poetry that hold the reader and wrap them in the feelings and imagery the writer is creating. They touch a place inside the reader and demand that they be considered.  Much of this work, as good poetry will do, stays with you after you've read it. This isn't a book for just parents of children with autism, or a book for parents; it's a book for anyone who has felt as if they or someone they love had to battle through life.
