Welcome to eMuse
Welcome back to eMuse, an online magazine for those who believe that good writers should never become an endangered species.
Our second issue has us all feeling like the literal and proverbial sophomore. The word sophomore comes from the Latin/Greek stems soph meaning wisdom and moro meaning fool. As we put together this issue for you, we did indeed feel like wise fools learning from our first experience and discovering all that we still did not know.
This quarter we hope you will find our stories, articles, poems, art and reviews inspiring, entertaining, informative and useful. We’ve collected some outstanding fiction this month including powerful and emotional pieces about life’s harder moments and a lighter memoir that we hope will give you a chuckle.
In our Poetry Section, you will find a variety of styles and approaches to poetry. Some are edgy, some filled with layers of imagery and some driven by feeling. We hope you find something here that provokes or touches you in some way.
Our Art Section takes a look at the history and impact of illustrators on readers through out history. From children’s classics to contemporary fiction, many of the images we hold dear from favorite books come from the talent of the illustrator.
We’ve expanded our Review Section. We have numerous reviews in a variety of genres. New books and books you may have missed stand side by side. Print books and ebooks are reviewed by our staff in hopes of helping you become a more informed consumer and possibly introducing you to new authors or formats of books of which you might not previously have been aware. Our featured author this quarter is someone we at eMuse have known for a while but who is celebrating the release of her first novel in October and an upcoming release of a second book in January. Check out the interview with Cerridwen Press author Jacquéline Roth and a review of her debut book, Access Denied.
As you wander through the pages of eMuse, we hope you will find something to entertain you, intrigue you and perhaps inspire your own muses. While you’re at it, take some time to pop over to our Yahoo announcement loop and sign up.

This is a low volume loop that sends occasional announcements about new issues, calls for submissions and offers a place for readers to ask questions of our staff. We encourage submissions by all. Our next issue will be a special one with a loose theme. Sign up for our loop now to get the special submissions call announcement that will be posted soon.
Now some very important thank yous:
* To Steve who is our proof reader extraordinaire and coding guru.
* And to the wondrous and delightful Brit, our webmistress, who keeps us online and looking rather spiffy.
Without these two brave and intrepid souls, eMuse would remain a pretty picture in our heads.

Because good writers should never be an endangered species.
